Dave Kolada
Managing Partner
Dave joined Greensoil in 2019 to help lead the launch of Greensoil PropTech Ventures Fund II, for which he acts as Fund Manager. Dave sits on the board of Ivy Energy and Wynd Technologies and is an observer on the boards of Dealpath, Oxygen8, and Qflow.
A seasoned financier, strategist and business builder, Dave combines a proven track record in Venture Capital investing (direct, fund & Corporate VC) with operational and domain expertise in the ICT and Cleantech sectors. With a top quartile career IRR in excess of 40% per annum, Dave has managed several hundred million dollars’ of venture investments, facilitated hundreds of financing and commercial transactions and raised over $6 billion in private and public equity and debt. As an operating executive, Dave has hired and led high performance teams and scaled organizations en route to 100% per annum growth. Dave is passionate about helping entrepreneurs achieve sustainable growth and value creation.
Prior to joining Greensoil, Dave advised corporate and investment management clients on their financing, growth, strategy and was also an Entrepreneur in Residence at the RIC Centre(now Altitude Accelerator), helping entrepreneurs fast track their businesses to market. Previously, Dave was VP, Venture Capital at OpenText Corporation (Nasdaq: OTEX), where he managed the global software company’s $100 million VC portfolio and received Global Corporate Venturing’s Rising Star Award. In this role, Dave managed investments in VC funds, funds of funds, pursued direct investment opportunities and established revenue-producing partnerships.
Dave has held several senior management positions over the course of his 30+ year career, including those of Senior Vice President, Corporate Development and Chief Financial Officer at marketing SaaS pioneer Eloqua Corporation (now Oracle) and Senior Director, Strategic Investment at Cognos (now IBM).Dave managed the market transaction team at Sustainable Development Technology Canada, a $1 billion Cleantech fund, facilitating over 115 SDTC portfolio company market transactions valued at approximately $1 billion. Previously, Dave gained experience in venture capital investment management at Jefferson Partners, where as a Partner he jointly managed over $200million of assets. Dave began his career as an investment banker in the U.S. on Wall Street (Lazard Frères) and in Canada (BMO Nesbitt Burns), where he developed relationships with world class companies and professionals and a deep understanding of the capital markets.
Dave holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) from Queen’s University.
